Consistent with the original "Kodaly for Band", the focus is on making music. Students learn new techniques on the instruments for the purpose of making music.

These Student Books, transposed for each individual instrument, written in standard staff notation, includes the introduction of new notes as necessary to play the songs on each page.

The Teacher's Guide includes "Worksheet Pages" for all new music concepts that are introduced in the song material. (Worksheet pages include photocopy privileges within one school)

"A Song Based Approach to Beginner Band" includes many opportunities for melody and harmony in the first weeks. Opportunity for creativity with student-created band arrangements is included, as with the original "Kodaly for Band"

"A Song Based Approach to Beginner Band" is a "stand alone" method book which can be used from day one of beginner band, an excellent supplemental book to another method or a concise "transition from the original "Kodaly for Band" into standard notation
